Soft glassblowers wanted


J Draper Glass is looking for soft glassblowers to join our team. We have openings for part-time Assistants, Instructors, and Gaffers starting now. We take pride in sharing our passion with the community and are dedicated to demonstrating the soft glass process to all our visitors. J Draper Glass is an artistic, educational & entertainment studio dedicated to providing hands-on hot glass opportunities. If you have 3 years of soft glassblowing experience, are a team player, enjoy teaching & people, this opportunity could be for you.

Founded in 2009, J Draper Glass offers narrated demonstrations, glassblowing classes, seasonal workshops, team building, private parties, and lessons to people of all ages and abilities. We also have a gallery. Located at The Studios on Sheridan, we are in our 6th year in this bustling location which is becoming central Illinois's hottest place to play. Our hot shop is open to the public and visitors are always welcome to watch & ask questions.


Positive, professional, and friendly customer-focused attitude.

Demonstrated experience working in a hot shop.

Patience in working with all ages and levels of competence.

Acute awareness of safety for the well-being of students, audience, and peers.

Improvise when necessary while teaching or doing presentations.

Capable of working in a hot shop for 8 hour shifts and lifting up to 60lbs.

Excellent communication skills as part of a team.


Hourly wage and a possible place to stay (if applicable).
