I was going to suggest Dick and Kathy. I've known them about twenty five years. I think Kathy to be the most approachable. They do a lot of cut and polished work. Kathy bought all my engraving stones and corks about ten years back. They had one of the very early Stadelman's and I wound up lending the their transformer for about a year. Nice people. Say Hello for me.

Dick and Kathy @ Houston Studio Glass are amazing people! They let me have full run of their studio when I was a refugee from Katrina. They were shut down at the time and turned on and gave me a place to work. It was my first time working out of a Stadelman furnace, and I bought one as soon as I was allowed to return to New Orleans. I did not even know them at the time, but they found a place in their hearts for me. I will never forget their generosity.
I do not think that they are hot until late Sept when the weather starts to cool off. If you do go and see them, please give them big hugs for me!!!

I looked at their website and they seem to have stopped updating it . Hope they still there. They show the pieces made over time and they made great progress over the years. It would be nice to talk with them.
Rich yes a short visit to my daughter I will let you know Mark.
Thanks
Franklin

You should look into a John Prine Song called "Sabu, the Elephant Boy" The refrain goes:
"Hey look ma it's the elephant boy
Bundled up in Corduroy,
Heading South to Illinois
From the Jungles of East St Paul"

I love John Prineís music. Why hasnít his music received more recognition ?? I have NEVER heard him on the radio up here in New England.

Prine and Paxton, two underappreciated geniuses.

Funny feature from just yesterday: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/07/t...avel-tips.html

Prine does control the free play content of his work so you don't hear it on the Village much (sometimes with Iris DeMint) and that's true for quite a number of musicians. As to pop type stations, he doesn't really shoot at that venue anymore than Steve Goodman did.
Paxton is indeed another jewel. : "Squalls out on the Bitter root grow darker every day". Once the wind turns westward, they're bound to head our way. Cold outside and looking like early snow this morning, Cold outside, looking like early snow"

But yesterday, I added "Workingman's Dead" and "American Beauty" to the studio CD collection. Time to turn up the volume. When you've lost Jerry Garcia, Tom Petty and Frank Zappa, your herd is distinctly being culled.

John Prine was just on NPR's Tiny Desk.

He's a songwriter's songwriter. Commercial radio couldn't care less.

Prine has his own "station" on Pandora. Also check out Wdvx streaming on the web.

I was lucky to see Tom Paxton with Arlo Guthrie and Leon Redbone all together at one time. One great concert.
