In all this time, teaching Franklin by internet, I don't think we've ever seen what he did with what he learned and whether it created a business in Trinidad, or just a passion. I understand both but when I look at the kids on the docks making paintings with aerosols for arriving tourists. I'm curious.

Franklin, what has all this coughed up?

Angry

Still learning so kind of difficult to answer but I will answer it a bit later.
A big mistake people make is to believe that the island is tourist oriented.
To sell art you have to be very good. When Tom visited me we went to the university and paid a Curtesy call to the Arts faculty. Met with the department head and even though Tom volunteered to help and the professor said he was interested.
I should not be revealing this in the public domain. Maybe on your cords group.
More later. I am trying to find a file.

As Franklin said, Trinidad is not a tourist destination. maybe Tobago, but I could find a lot nicer places to go.
I was to both islands in the last 6 months and I enjoyed spending time with Franklin and his family, but trust me it is no where one would want to start an art glass business. Making rum bottles that could double for shooting practice would be a better venue to pursue.
Even though Franklin has not shared his accomplishments here on CraftWEB, he has done some pretty amazing stuff considering what he has had to work with.
It is now even difficult for Trinidadians to get access to U.S. dollars. As far as I know there is still not a way that paypal operates there. They are now dealing with a huge influx of Venezuelans that has put a lot of pressure on the already difficult situations. The world is a very complicated place that unless you travel quite a bit you have no idea of the real conditions abroad.
Last week I ended up consulting with a young artist in Kosova that had many of the same problems as Franklin. Trying to do quality work with poor materials and technology that is quite old because financial considerations don't allow for anything else is a challenge. Luckily I still remember a few of the things we did to exist 50 years ago and those are what is most pertinent to those in some other parts of the world.
Excuse me Franklin if I have painted too bleak of a picture of T&T, but you have achieved a lot against a lot of difficulties.

Bleak is accurate. All because of the crime. I won’t say amazing . For me it was hard and still challenging.

What you think about using some fiber soaked in stiffener as a gasket for the door space.

That will work, but your disposal rate is going to be based on how hot it gets, how much you disturb it, and if any glass touches it. Glass that's allowed to stay hot will disintegrate the fiber.
