Burning cullet

Just reloaded my furnace with Cristalica 100. I put a couple of pounds of cold cullet (small pucks) on top of glass at 1150oC and turned up to 1200oC.
10 minutes later I noticed smoke coming from under the lid. Opened up to find something burning on the top in the partly melted cullet, with an intense white light. About 1/4Ē round, is if Iíd thrown a piece of magnesium in.
Any ideas what it was?
Itís an wire melter. The charging scoop is galvanised but I canít see how it could have contaminated the cullet.

My guess is the zinc from your scoop. Whatever it is I wouldnít worry about it.
