World's best fly swatter!
I am overwhelmed by how efficient the Bernzomatic torch with the instant on trigger is for killing flies, a big issue when your shop is set up near your horses.
I might as well have a BB gun at close range. . The flies let you get really close and less than a half second shots kill the flies. On/Off. It scorches nothing else. I'm young and in love.

Oh.. I know this well! It’s evil but whatever.
My second favorite is a plastic tennis racket thing that takes batteries. You can get them at ocean state job lot for $6. It zaps them in a lout pop sound.

I would always turn off my shop lights and the horse flies would self immolate by flying into the bright light of the GH...

I finally got to get a chance today to stomp on a cricket that had been chirping up a racket for over a week behind my hood in the shop. It crawled out looking dazed (no surprise after hanging out up near my color furnace exhaust gasses) and I realize it wasn't very zen but it was quite satisfying to do after days and days of the audible annoyance.

Crickets should be escorted outside and left to their own fate.
Brown tail moths, on the other hand... I make the rounds of the apple trees with a Bernz taped to a stick. I feel like the dragon must have felt in the last episode of Game of Thrones. |

A friend was doing that and found out that his screen door screen was plastic, not metal....
The torch also works well on the 5-6” centipedes and the 1.5-2” long giant (and deadly) hornets so common around here. |

Weed whacker works great on ground wasps. With a fresh string fed out accuracy is not very important. Looks a lot like skeet shooting when you get them.

We don't have too many nasty bugs around here but occasional bees, spiders, flies, little crawlies get into the house. Then the BEST solution ever is to use the hand vacuum (Dust Buster, etc.)
No splat on the wall, no mess, no fuss, they don't crawl or fall back out... |

On the other end of the temperature spectrum you can also buy “freeze spray” that apparently works well for centipedes that are quite difficult to dispose of without making a real mess in the house.

If you manage to capture a fly under a glass or bowl, you can put it in a freezer for a minute to make him fall asleep. Then... you can superglue a 12” length of dental floss to its belly which will allow you to keep it as a pet on a leash.
That iIs what I have heard. I’d never do it.

That certainly works on Iguanas. You just need cold weather. They fall out of trees.

I've been known to take on flying insects with a hand torch and a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol. Singe those wings and the rest is easy.

Yep, I use mine to fry spider/webs/eggs on my porch. Makes a very satisfying crackle and they seem to die instantly.
Kinda smells weird, tho. |

We used dental floss (my husband being a periodontist and all) to remove ticks from the dogs. Tie a loop around it and pull the strings - pops right off attached to the dental floss! No blood no mess.

Yes the head comes out as well. He would push the floss all the way to the skin of the dog and slowly tighten the loop so it stays in place then he pulled harder and {pop} it comes right out attached to the floss
