Question for cullet users
So, recently, I got email from a glassperson who indicated that the hood in the shop he works out of has been crudding up with all too familiar fluff. My regular experience with the phenomenon was a borax residue and those are always yellowish, notably forming around the door at either a one o'clock or and eleven o'clock position, but he indicated that it was white. That takes me elsewhere.
So, What I would like to know is whether anyone else is experiencing this stuff. I have a strong suspicion as to what it is and where it might come from but first, I'd like to hear from the legions. I don't view it as insignificant. White, not yellow.

We had some of it with the no borax Spectrum System 96 improved studio nuggets. There was less of if than the borax fluff but it was noticable.

What cullet do you use now? Does it show any residue or something like that on the cullet?

When I was using cristalica my fluff was white, not yellow. Made massive cakes on a girder above the flue. Assumed it was the borax.

I've always encountered white stuff. Toss it in some water and the water gets "slippery". Sodium and/or Boron.
