Shipping to Kapaa

When you ship to Kapaa Hi.How do you ship?I ship with the Post office but if they damage something they are very difficult to get the claim filed and paid. They do not pay freight on damage, their logic it seems is "look we got it to them" albeit damaged .The Post office wants the Gallery to bring the damaged item back to them to inspect. Is there a company other then Fed ex or UPS that will consolidate glass going to Hi?

When I was shipping to Maui it was always USPS. Never had any breakage problems so didn't deal with that.

best to ask the client how they want it shipped. Hawaii is indeed expensive but everyone expects that. Both UPS and Fed Ex are second day air minimal. It's a great deal with the USPS. Pack it better. Even a larger box with USPS is less expensive than the others. Unless you can get someone to include your box on Matsen Lines, it's expensive and Matsen will pay pennies per lb.

I just sent two boxes USPS large flat rate and they cost $18.50 each. I'm reasonably sure that would have been 100 dollars UPS. If it breaks, it breaks.

I ship a lot overseas and I have always used USPS. UPS has an awful track record with me and FEDEX caps damage insurance coverage at $600 for art.

Having shipped around 3000+ orders in the last 20+/- years to many international destinations, using the postal system, with exactly one lost package, I am a loyal customer of same.

North of the 49th parallel we also have Greyhound Bus Lines(for now) if speed is not an issue. Having said that, they get a box from Quebec to Vancouver Island, very economically, in 5 days.

Almost hate to say this but......go postal.....

If you pack correctly the The only choice between carriers should really be price. I donít believe you get better or worse handling between different carriers. I pack well and never insure, which is a waste of money if you pack well and if you ever have to collect itís hell, so never worth it. Iíve had no breaks for at least the last 12 years.

Totally rethink your packing methods and pick the cheapest carrier.

Thank you David. That nails it in a nutshell.

I have the same approach as David. I will say that when I have shipped to Hawaii I used united Postal Service parcel post and it was much cheaper than anything else I could find
