Have the laps ever been machined since they were new?

The one I use with micro grit long ago. Believe it or not still flat. The other has been designated as polisher for long time. So that plate kinda funky and rusted, but works perfectly with a polishing pad in it. I never liked having to pull the plates off to clean. Just sponged out the micro so it would dry. Would once in a great while pull polisher plate to oil bearings or replace pad. Always made my own pads with thin carpet.
