Yup Carville got his blood up and got a bit emotional. I posted it on my FB this morning. It is unreal here. I think that it will change when the oil hits the pristine beaches of FL (sorry Scott)
I'll get the size that I need and a CC to you w/in a week....is that OK?

That will be a big help. I won't run anything until I have to give these guys wire transfers.
Go to the Daily beast and look at the internal memo from BP about safety and their use of the three little pigs analogy. They state clearly they will build straw houses.

I am willing to talk to anyone who purchased one of my furnaces. I will do my best to help out. I do not answer numbers I do not know, leave a message. I cannot call outside of the U.S. anymore, sorry. I can take calls from outside but I have to coordinate it.

I saw that also Pete....the amount of info we are getting from all the sources is overwhelming. It's like when we were evacuated during Katrina, information from all sides, but the helplessness is the same.

Hi Steve! Thanks for the offer of communications.

When it does hit here it will be ugly and I agree it will change the tune of things.

I am sick to my stomach over it. Not just what it will do locally but gulf wide. I believe it will much simpler to clean up on the beach than in your neck of the wood worked up into the marshes. The pictures just fill me with dread.

That is one of the sizes I will be bringing in. I sold my last ones of that size a few weeks ago. You can get it from IR2rd but it is going to be painful. I will have them in about three weeks. I will have clamps and straps as well.

i just used up my final spare element last night, so i ordered some from duralite this morning.

DURA007085
6/12 LE300, LU450, A50
$340 for a pair if you buy 2 pairs. $380 a pair if you only buy one pair.

so at $170 per element at quantity 4, that's pretty good. they don't always stock that size, so i got lucky that they had a pair around.

and their quote also said:
3-9 pairs = $322 per pair
10+ pairs = $305 per pair

Replacing moly elements

Hi Folks
I have a 75lb Stadelman furnace. Can't get hold of Brent. Have just broken one of my elements (operator error/stupidity) but fortunately have a few spares. Looking for basic info on replacing the element. Can I do it while the furnace is hot or do I need to empty and let it cool down etc. Furnace is full at the moment.

You can replace them hot. I have done it twice with no trouble. I believe that my manual from Brent says it is OK to swap them out hot.

Hot replacement is fine, be sure you seat the passage brick onto the furnace crown and pack loose fiber tight around the brick.

Hot Replacement

Element replaced OK. Unfortunately never did get a complete manual, just a partial one for a bigger furnace. No mention of replacing elements 101!
Seems like a lot of the 1st layer of high temp frax has fused/crusted and took a bit of wrestling to get the passage brick out. Had already bought more high temp frax so that was ready. I've enough to last a few years now!!!!!
Anyway, up and running again and should last until I shut down and rebuild crown around Nov.
Peter, no info on the elements to identify them but I'd like to get a couple more spares as well. It seems I've missed something. Has Brent gone out of business? No answer from phone, business or hotmail emails.

Thanks Lynn & Steve.

I did PM you. I have the specs for that element. Get ready for sticker shock shipping to Australia.

I don't have any first hand info but someone mentioned here that Brent was out of business a few weeks ago.

I am actually finally placing the order for the elements today. As it turned out, only one company actually is ISO 9000 which I view as important, so I am going with them. I am still on the details of air freight and brokerage fees into Maine but if you want elements, nows the time to tell me.
I will charge a 100 dollar re-crating fee for your order. That would be for up to three pairs. Steve was charging $350 to crate. If you return your crate to me in good shape ( via UPS) I will not charge for packing on your next order.

It appears to me right now that the prices on a 6/12 PAIR will be about $350 dollars and the price on 9/12 PAIRS to be around $430.00. It is not firm yet so bear with me. I don't want to sell them as singles since they are packaged to ship in pairs and they are seriously fragile. I will also have clamps and straps.

Pete: please forgive my ignorance, where do you get the measurements from? I know that Steve put in one size and Brent put in another. I want to get ones that match the one that I have in stock....Thanks

I will get you matched up. I know what is supposed to be in there. It's OK to use different 9/18 lengths as long as both banks of elements are balanced. Same for 6/12's

Max I think the top crusty stuff you refer to is ''dip lag '' that you are supposed to lay on top of the passage brick to seal the top.

Try and get a complete manual.

I down loaded mine from Steve's sight and printed it.

Perhaps he could send it to you or better yet somehow post it here.

Why he could even post some simplified instruction on how to bring his machines up, like Brent said he was going to do...
