Great videos! I copied this to the schools, video links etc. It goes on to show a mess of CMOG videos as well. This dates back 21 years when it was all still OK. I find the "investors" interesting. Henry had a contact that ran a marble making operation down in Tiffin just supplying the paint spray people with the marbles that go in the cans to mix paint. I believe she's gone now as are most of these folks.

I thought they meant by sponsor, that somebody commissioned the melt/ run?
But Christ the furnace is not insulated at all… They obviously don’t have compatatability issues, or worry about annealing… ****** Last edited by Pete VanderLaan; 03-23-2023 at 05:55 PM. |

Contrast this with the thread in antiques and classics Steve Maslach posted which went deeply into the issues with R-61. I recently brought it forward. In many ways this all reminds me of the tarot card of the fool. He plays his flute walking off a cliff.
The interpretation if the card is that he always turns away from the cliff at the last second, never realizing it was there. Glass can do that.

The downfall and success of the Ohio Valley glass making was ignorance and solutions at the same time. Global pricing and regulation brought much of it to its knees.
The final knife in the heart? Obamacare, really.

Where is the R 61 reference ? I’ve used hundreds of kilos of Zimmerman and Kugler 61

It's the primary issue for Maslach. I've been reading threads about it for twenty years. What's interesting? Part of a pot may be great and another part isn't. I see it again and again. Dense enamels aren't glass, they're enamels. They really march to the tune of a different drummer.
